Neil Perry the main character in the film was under his fathers thumb because of the way his father treated him and didn�t believe that any could rule his own life and make changes. Neil wanted to be an actor and it his father wouldn�t let him, so it was clear that he had to do it behind his fathers back. The lead part in the school play was given to Neil....
