Freedom Gives Adolescents a Sense of Responsibility


People throughout time have always strived for freedom and the ability to be able to make their own decisions without the interference of any outside source. The freedom of choice has been the cause of many wars. This freedom is just as crucial on the individual level as well, especially for me. I have learned that the freer I am to make my own choices, the more responsibilities I learn to accept. There are a numerous amount of examples that can be used for this purpose.

There less is force is applied on me to make a decision when I am not constantly evaluated and influenced by parents or other superiors; therefore, I think much clearer and usually make a better decision since the decision is solely mine. When I was pondering on whether I should attend a certain party at a friend’s house, my parents were greatly objected to it for the fact that there might be the chance of activities going on there that would not be to my parents liking. Although that is what my parents thought, I went and since it was by my own choice, did not participate in any of the before mentioned activities. On one occasion, I was driving on the highway when another vehicle abruptly turned into my lane. If I would have been with an authorative figure, I probably would have panicked and crashed, but being alone and independent, I was responsible enough to avoid any accidents. Another time was when I started my job at Fresh Fields. I squandered all my money before obtaining the job because it was all given to me by my parents, but after my first paycheck, I learned the value of a dollar and since there was no influence of any kind from anyone as to what I should do with the money, I saved it in a savings account and to this day I am still doing so.
