The World Without Books

The World Without Books
The year is 2000A.D. The New World leader, Oliver Closeoff, has demolished books from the earth because of his belief that books bring rebellion, turmoil, memories of the chaotic past, and also contain the blue prints for a chaotic world with expressed views and tempers. Now, because of the destruction of all literature, the past has soon been forgotten, the religions have fallen and ceased to exist, the thinkers’ thoughts are expressed only to the few close to him, and the knowledge of what to expect in the future has also dissipated like dust in the wind.
The history books that told us of the mistakes of the world and warned us of mistakes to come were destroyed leaving us to wonder in the dark and be taken by surprise when the mistakes repeat themselves. The language texts that once kept each language pure and static have been destroyed leaving the languages wilting with mixed words and confusion. The biographies that once told of people of significance and their ideas were now destroyed leaving the ideas of yesterday that built today, forgotten. The stories of mystical kingdoms and dragons, the fictions were now destroyed leaving children in a world without dreams and driving thoughts. This is the time that all hope is lost and the only thing hoped for is hope, which is brought by books.
